DBA Study Tours: Two International Immersions in Clermont-Ferrand and Marrakech
Developing leaders who can thrive in a global environment is not something that happens solely in the classroom. This is precisely the purpose of the Study Tours offered as part of the Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) at Clermont School of Business. In recent weeks, participants from the Dubai and Shanghai DBA programmes took part in two immersive experiences in Clermont-Ferrand and Marrakech respectively, combining applied research, business engagement and intercultural exchange. These experiences all share the same objective: to enrich strategic thinking through exposure to international environments.
The Doctorate of Business Administration: An International Programme for Business Leaders
Delivered across several international locations, the Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) at Clermont School of Business supports senior executives, business leaders and entrepreneurs wishing to deepen their expertise through an applied research approach. Beyond the courses delivered on each location, the Study Tours represent a key component of the programme. They provide participants with the opportunity to discover different economic environments, explore their research within international contexts, and engage with faculty members, businesses and professionals from a wide range of backgrounds.
Clermont-Ferrand: An Immersion into the Region’s Business Ecosystem
For one week, participants from the Dubai DBA explored the Trudaine XL campus and the Clermont-Ferrand business ecosystem. Guided by faculty member Helga Fouré-Joopen, they took part in the Digital Strategy and Enterprise Design seminar, focusing on the challenges of digital transformation, innovation and the design of more agile and sustainable business models.
The programme also included a visit to the headquarters of Fuji Electric France, providing an opportunity to illustrate the seminar’s key themes through real-life examples and to exchange with company representatives about the challenges of competitiveness, industrial innovation and organisational transformation.
The week also featured numerous exchanges between participants, faculty members and business professionals, encouraging the sharing of management practices and professional experiences from a wide range of sectors.
Marrakech: Applied Research and Intercultural Dialogue
A few days earlier, Clermont School of Business Marrakech Campus welcomed participants from the Shanghai DBA. The programme included a workshop on Design Science, a methodology particularly well suited to addressing complex management challenges, exchanges with students from the Marrakech campus, and several working sessions with the School’s academic teams.
These encounters provided an opportunity to compare different approaches to applied research, share professional experiences and enrich discussions through the diversity of cultures represented. The week concluded with an introduction to the Chinese tea ceremony, a symbol of the intercultural exchanges that characterise these international experiences.
Study Tours: A Key Component of the Clermont School of Business DBA
Far more than study trips, the Study Tours are an integral part of the Doctorate of Business Administration. They enable participants to reflect on their professional practice, confront their research with the realities faced by organisations, and develop a strategic vision enriched by international experiences.
By building bridges between its campuses, partner companies and diverse economic environments, Clermont School of Business reaffirms its ambition to educate leaders who are equipped to support organisational transformation in an ever-changing world.
