ENGAGE: raising awareness and empowering students involved in student associations
In February, Clermont School of Business reached a new milestone in rolling out the ENGAGE programme by organizing two awareness sessions for members of student associations. These meetings fully reflect ENGAGE’s ambition: to structure, support and promote student engagement by providing a clear, demanding and coherent framework aligned with the School’s mission.
Promoting inclusion and preventing risks
On 5 February, nearly 90 students took part in a first session dedicated to the theme of disability. Led by Robin Jund, Director of TSE/Disability Officer, and Simon Pela, a PGE 3 student and active member of campus life for three years, this session opened up a space for constructive dialogue on issues of inclusion and accessibility. Discussions focused in particular on how to concretely integrate these dimensions into the organization of association-led events. The objective: enable every student to fully participate in campus life, regardless of their specific needs.
On 26 February, a second session was held on the theme “Drugs, alcohol: dangers and risks,” featuring a Captain from the Clermont-Ferrand gendarmerie. This meeting addressed, in a clear and direct way, the legal, health and human issues related to organizing festive events. Students were able to discuss their responsibilities, best practices to adopt and prevention measures to put in place. Robin Jund also spoke again to address the notion of substance dependence and its impacts, particularly on a psychosocial level. This intervention was also an opportunity to remind students of the existence of a listening and support service within the School, and to stress that asking for help is a sign of awareness, not weakness.
Student association life: formative… and responsible
At Clermont School of Business, student association life is a pillar of the student experience and a driver of skills development. Event organization, budget management, team coordination: these are all concrete experiences that prepare students for the realities of the professional world. But this commitment also requires a framework, duties and a high level of responsibility.
Through these sessions, the School reaffirms its determination to prevent risks, support student initiatives and professionalize association practices. The aim is to help students fully assume their role as key actors in campus life, balancing dynamism, responsibility and respect for everyone.
Students involved in associations play a central role in the vitality and balance of campus life. It is therefore our responsibility to support them by providing the necessary tools on key topics such as prevention, accountability and the management of risk situations. These exchanges with professionals establish a shared and secure framework, which is intended to be gradually extended to all students, whether they are involved in an association or not.
ENGAGE: a structuring framework serving the student experience
These actions are part of the ENGAGE programme, the strategic reference framework for Clermont School of Business’s student engagement policy. Embedded in the momentum of the REVEAL 22–27 strategic plan, ENGAGE reaffirms a strong conviction: a rich and dynamic student association life is a major asset, provided that it is properly supervised, professionalized and meaningful.
The programme is thus built on a strong ambition: to offer 360° support for student engagement. This includes recognition of the different forms of involvement, training for association leaders, continuous follow-up throughout the student journey and the promotion of the skills developed. It is precisely within this logic that the two sessions organized in February fit: by structuring and supporting student association life, the School creates the concrete conditions for more responsible engagement, more aware of societal challenges and fully aligned with its educational mission.
Did you know?
At Clermont School of Business, student association life is not merely an addition to academic training: it is fully recognized as a driving force behind the student experience.
In response to recent developments (increasing student numbers, more diverse profiles, the rise of work-study programmes, growing internationalization), the School has sought to further structure student engagement. ENGAGE thus aims to restore meaning and coherence to the various forms of involvement by fully integrating them into the academic journey.
This programme makes engagement a genuine lever for recognition and success, by valuing all forms of involvement, whether cultural, social, sporting or representative.
